Providing people in developing countries the agency to effect change by leveraging global, crowd-sourced innovation to solve everyday challenges.

CURRENT INITIATIVE: MADAGASCAR
Madagascar is one of the poorest countries in the world, and yet one of the richest places in terms of biodiversity and culture. We wanted to know:
How can we empower people in Madagascar to solve their every day challenges and allow them to create an environment where they can thrive– not just survive?
How it All Started
We began working in Madagascar after meeting Dr. Patricia Wright and visiting Centre ValBio in the lush Ranomafana National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our shared mission to protect biodiversity and empower local communities has led to a strong partnership over the years.

What does it mean to Listen Local?
One of our founding principles is to Listen Local.
Through critical listening and many months of focus groups, interviews, and participatory observation– we truly heard what people had to say. As a result, we saw themes in our conversations: infrastructure, health, education, and cooking fuel.
